The goalkeeper was instrumental in their Champions League triumph last season, which was the icing on the cake of the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and French Super Cup trophies.

He was told to find himself a new club this summer, as PSG were not prepared to maintain his current wages and the current contract is set to expire in June 2026.

The Azzurri hero was even left out of the squad for the European Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur and tonight’s Ligue 1 home match against Angers.

PSG teammates make kind gesture for Donnarumma

However, during the celebration after the 1-0 victory looking back over their many trophies, his teammates formed a circle and pushed him forward to accept the cheers of the fans.

Notably, coach Luis Enrique and the PSG directors were on the other side of the pitch during this moment, confirming it was a gesture made only by the players.

Captain Marquinhos then hugged a visibly moved Donnarumma and continued leading the cheers and chants for the Italian, making sure he toured the whole stadium to salute everyone.

He is expected to join Manchester City.

7 thought on “Donnarumma moved as PSG teammates force his farewell to fans”
  1. Imagine going yoir whole career and never leaving a club on good terms… meanwhile you have players who play for a handful of clubs and are welcomed back to their games with smiles all around.

Meanwhile, Dollarumma will have his millions to comfort him. for some, that’s enough.

  2. PSG don’t treat their players well especially when they request for wage increment or pay parity. Kylian Mbappe was also treated the same way. Footballers should be wary of PSG especially when signing contracts.

  3. PSG need to examine their treatment of players. Whether it’s Kylian, Messi, Neymar, Verratti, Donnarumma, and many others, the manner in which the player moves on is always acrimonious. PSG will use a player in fine form, but then discard them at the first sign of decline without any grace or dignity. Seeing Donnarumma in the loft was so hurtful 💔 he deserved better. Thank you Captain Marquinos, I see your bravery and integrity in this moment for Donnarumma.

  4. it seems the new policy made by PSG at the present time is to advantage the French nationals goalkeeping has always been held by foreign nationals now the move is to make it purely french
it’s a pity a wonderful goalkeeper of this standard is pushed this way to the exit so impolitely this is why his teammates celebrated with him this memorable farewell
