Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has revealed that he tries to “imitate and learn from” Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer.

Donnarumma had always suggested that his idol growing up was Gianluigi Buffon, but the 18-year-old claims he has his eyes on emulating another shot-stopper.

“My idol was always Gigi Buffon, then you were in the team that I supported [as a child],” he told Christian Abbiati in an interview for Milan TV.

“My idol was always Gigi Buffon, then you were in the team that I supported [as a child],” he told Christian Abbiati in an interview for Milan TV.

“Now in the national team, I always have Gigi, who’s been helping me so much, but there’s also Neuer, who’s an example. I try to imitate him and learn from him.

“China? I was also there two years ago, it’s been a nice experience. The fans are affectionate and we were greeted very well.

“The new Milan? So many new players have arrived and those who were already here have been helping them feel at home.

“Playing with my brother? It feels good, even if it’s strange: I’d never trained with him.”
