Gianluigi Donnarumma respects Keylor Navas but insists he joined PSG to play on a regular basis.
The Italy international signed with the Ligue 1 giants on a free transfer from Milan in the summer.
However, he was relegated to the bench in PSG’s first game of the season against Brest last weekend.
“I want to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world and in order to do that, it’s necessary to sacrifice and be humble. Being humble is the most important thing,” Donnarumma told Canal+.
“I came to Paris to play. PSG sought me and wanted me. And I wanted PSG,” the former Milan man added.
“Competition doesn’t scare me. Keylor is a big goalkeeper, but I am here to play. The competition is good and can help us improve.
“I came here to play, so I will give my best to be a starter, but there must be competition. I am ready to play.
“There won’t be problems, Keylor is a great person, we are friends and there are no problems, competition is normal in big clubs.”

The 22-year-old is now sharing the dressing room with some of the best players in the world, such as Leo Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, but how was he welcomed by the PSG stars?
“Kylian is a top player, it’s great to have him in my team, he made me feel part of the family, like everybody else.
“There is so much quality in the problem, it’s a problem when you play against them, but we all feel well, we are a great team and we’ll do everything to make a great season.”
Donnarumma was named Player of the Tournament at UEFA Euro 2020 as he played a key role in helping Italy win the competition.
He only conceded four goals during the tournament and saved penalties in the shootout both in the semifinals against Spain and in the Final against England.
However, he didn’t celebrate when he saved the decisive penalty on Bukayo Saka against the Three Lions.
“I didn’t celebrate because I was watching the referee. Us goalkeepers must have a foot touching the line and with VAR, you never know,” the Italian goalkeeper explained.
“When I saw my teammates running towards me, it all started. I didn’t understand what was going on, but it was the biggest emotion of my life.”

That’s the “challenge” you wanted by leaving Milan not so? Must feel really awful being on the bench in the 5th ranked league in European football.

I think GG is one of the best in the world currently. I also think he should start for PSG, and lastly Juve made a huge mistake, as GG should have been a priority signing.
