Former Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma says he’d be happy if Napoli win the Serie A title this season.
The ex-Rossoneri keeper was born in Castellammare Di Stabia in the Naples metropolitan area on February 25, 1999. He grew up in Naples, joining Milan’s academy when he was barely 14.
Donnarumma attended an event in Naples on Tuesday, saying that he’d be happy if Luciano Spalletti’s men win the Scudetto this season.
“There have been doubts about my love for Naples since I joined Milan, but Naples is my city and there are no doubts about it. If Napoli win the title, I’d be very happy,” he told Canale 21.
The 23-year-old joined PSG as a free agent in 2021 after the end of his contract with Milan. He had played 251 games with the Diavoli, keeping 88 clean sheets.
Napoli are the current Serie A leader and the only unbeaten team in Italy’s top flight. They are enjoying an eight-point lead over Donnarumma’s ex-club Milan and resume the season on January 4 in an away match against Inter at San Siro.
Donnarumma made his senior Italy debut in 2016 and has already collected 50 international caps, winning Euro 2020 and being named the best player in the tournament.
