Gianluigi Donnarumma showed why he got the nod to wear the PSG gloves against Real Madrid with a sensational fingertip save on Karim Benzema.

The Italy international was chosen ahead of former Real Madrid man Keylor Navas, as coach Mauricio Pochettino continues to rotate his shot-stoppers all season.

Donnarumma didn’t have a single real save to make in the first leg 1-0 victory, but the trip to the Bernabeu was a different matter.

The former Milan star flew to get his fingertips to a Benzema curler, pushing it round the far top corner of the net.

Often criticised on social media by PSG supporters, Donnarumma did get a great deal of praise for that save, especially as until the slow-motion replay, many didn’t realise he’d even touched it.

“If that had been Navas, it was a goal, but Donnarumma has arms three metres long,” wrote one fan.

ESPN Deportes were ‘without words’ to describe the save, while SportsCenter Brasil asked if Donnarumma was the best goalkeeper in the world.

Actu Tech & Foot simply pointed out: “That is why Donnarumma is Number 1.”

  1. Yes Milo!! Ah yes, what an “amazing save” also in the 61’….Pochettino must be regretting that choice over 3 time CL winner in Navas.

Wonder who Mino would blame for that howler.

    And another by Bemzema! Boom

  2. Karma is something Donna, and it’s coming from an Inter fan! You just replaced a legendary club with dollars/euros? You really deserve this!
