Now RMC Sport in France, plus several Italian sites claim Roma accepted an offer worth €25m plus another €3m in performance-related bonuses.

Il Tempo state the agreement was reached while Strootman was training with the squad at Trigoria.

Strootman is due to have a medical in Marseille tomorrow, which means he won’t be available for the Serie A match against Atalanta on Monday night.

He has agreed a five-year contract believed to be worth €4.5m per year, a significant improvement on the €3m per year he currently earns at Roma.

The Dutchman has been at the Olimpico since 2013, but missed practically two years through repeated knee injuries from 2014-2016.
