According to Sky Sport Italia, Gianluca Scamacca has made his decision to join Atalanta from West Ham United, as they offered more than Inter.

The Italy international was determined to make a quick return to Serie A after just one season in the Premier League.

Roma and Milan had also been interested, but were not prepared to go beyond a loan with option to buy.

Inter had seemed very close to an agreement, although they would not offer more than €24m plus €4m in add-ons.

Atalanta dived in with their own proposal, which meets the asking price set by West Ham of €25m plus another €5m in bonuses.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Atalanta were also prepared to offer a higher salary to Scamacca than the one Inter had put on the table, as it will run to €3.2m per season.

He is expected to fly in over the weekend for a medical, while next week Atalanta will also secure Charles De Ketelaere from Milan on loan for €3m with an option to buy for a further €23m.

Meanwhile, Sportitalia maintain that Inter will instead go for Arsenal centre-forward Folarin Balogun, making a proposal worth €35m.
