Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali confirms Davide Frattesi has signed with Inter.

Carnevali spoke to reporters in Milan on Wednesday afternoon.

He confirmed that Frattesi’s move to Inter is a done deal.

“It’s done, it’s done, he signed not long ago,” Carnevali said.

The Nerazzurri will complete his signature on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for €28m and 22-year-old striker Samuele Mulattieri included in the deal. He has been valued at €8m.

“We are happy, it wasn’t easy. It was a long negotiation, but I think that it ended in the best way for us and for the footballer. He had given preference to the Nerazzurri,” continued Carnevali.

“Frattesi is a young Italian player with different characteristics from other midfielders. I am convinced Inter have made an excellent signing, then it’s up to the coach and the club to valorise him and I am sure they’ll be able to do so because Frattesi is a player with great quality.

“Mulattieri wasn’t tied to Frattesi. It’s a negotiation we had started earlier. We are happy because he’s a young player and we believe in him.”

Carnevali confirmed Sassuolo would buy a new midfielder to replace Frattesi and hit back at Lazio President Claudio Lotito, who had publicly complained about Domenico Berardi’s price tag.

“I saw Lotito yesterday, I hope that if he has to tell me something, he will come to me rather than talk to someone else,” said Carnevali.

Frattesi scored 11 goals in 75 appearances with Sassuolo. He joined the Neroverdi in 2017-18 from Roma but went out on loan to Ascoli, Empoli and Monza before returning to the Mapei Stadium permanently in 2021.

Roma have a 30% clause on his sale, while Inter managed to afford his purchase following Marcelo Brozovic’s move to Al-Nassr.
