Jose Mourinho bid farewell to Roger Ibanez after Roma agreed to the terms of a deal with Al-Ahli.

The Rossoneri have been keen to cash in on the 24-year-old Brazilian centre back this summer, hoping to use his departure to fund a new striker, and received an offer from Nottingham Forest last week before Al-Ahli emerged.

Ibanez featured heavily under Mourinho last season, seeing over 4000 minutes of action across 48 total appearances for Roma.

Gianluca Di Marzio details how Roma have agreed to sell Ibanez to Al-Ahli for around €25m plus €3m in add-ons, with a 10% future resale clause included. The defender has agreed to a lucrative four-year deal with the Saudi side.

Mourinho bid farewell to Ibanez on his Instagram page, posting a photo of the pair alongside a lighthearted caption, writing: “Be happy ‘garoto’. I know you will miss me. Thank you for your last shirt. Now you can pay a proper dinner to me and my staff. Enjoy Saudi Arabia. I bet when YOU saw the picture YOU thought that was a new player.”

Ibanez made 149 appearances across all competitions for Roma during his time at the club, helping the side win the Conference League in the 2021-22 season.
