Roma have shaken hands with Al-Ittihad to sell Houssem Aouar for circa €12m plus add-ons, a huge profit considering he arrived as a free agent last year.

The reports yesterday suggested a deal was close at a total €15m, but the final details have now been worked out and crucially the player also accepted the move.

The Algeria international just turned 26 a couple of weeks ago and should be at the peak of his career.

Aouar flopped at Roma

A product of the Olympique Lyonnais youth academy, Aouar left as a free agent last summer and made the move to Roma, signing a contract to June 2028.

He struggled to make an impact, both under coach Jose Mourinho and then Daniele De Rossi.

The attacking midfielder made only 25 appearances for the Giallorossi in all competition, yet still managed to score four goals, all of them in Serie A.

Aouar is expected to have his medical over the weekend and sign the lucrative contract with Al-Ittihad.
