Napoli and Chelsea reach agreement for Lukaku

There are some contrasting reports regarding the structure of the add-ons, though. According to transfer experts Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano, Napoli have reportedly agreed to pay Chelsea a fee of €30m plus up to €15m in add-ons for the former Roma and Inter loanee,

Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia report that the deal is for €30m plus a 30% sell-on clause with no additional bonuses.

The agreement came after Partenopei sporting director Giovanni Manna met with Chelsea directors on Friday, the second time this week. For the first time, on Friday, Napoli showed a willingness to increase their offer beyond the €30m mark.

Chelsea had also been offered a cut of any future sell-on fee as an alternative to the bonuses, but they now appear to have agreed a significant add-ons package.

Lukaku had agreed personal terms with Antonio Conte’s side several weeks ago. He is now set to put pen to paper on a three-year contract at the Stadio Maradona, which will run until the summer of 2027.

Napoli will be the third Serie A club that Lukaku has represented in his career thus far, following a Scudetto win with Inter under the aforementioned Conte. He would later return to San Siro on loan following his €113m move to Chelsea in 2021.

There was also a spell on loan with Roma last term, where he scored 21 goals from 47 appearances in all competitions.
