Multiple sources tonight claim David De Gea has agreed personal terms with Fiorentina as a free agent with a one-year contract plus option to extend, so will fly in for a medical soon.

The goalkeeper has been out of football for over a year, since his contract with Manchester United was allowed to expire in July 2023, as he could not find a project that excited him.

Now he is back and trying a new adventure in Serie A, just shy of his 34th birthday.

De Gea set for Fiorentina

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, this is going to be a one-year contract worth €1m per season plus bonuses.

There is also an option to extend for a second year, where his salary would be doubled to €2m.

De Gea is expected to fly in to Florence for a medical over the next 48 hours, as the Viola begin their season later this month.

He started his career with Atletico Madrid before moving to Manchester United in 2011.

At the same time, Pietro Terracciano is set to leave the Viola and Monza or Genoa are likely to be his next destination.

  1. Sounds as though he finally decided to be more realistic in his demands. Wouldn’t have had a club again if he’d sought 5m or whatever ridiculous amount he was asking for recently. Will be interesting to see how much he has left.
