For several weeks now, it has been clear that the Brazilian midfielder only wanted a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked as Napoli coach in December.

There was also interest from Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, but it was a matter of whittling down the details on this transfer.

The 29-year-old has not even been in Napoli training sessions or yesterday’s pre-season friendly.

It means the end for Allan at Napoli, having joined from Udinese for €11.5m in the summer of 2015.

His relationship with the club was never the same after they rejected a €50m offer from Paris Saint-Germain in January, as he resented not being allowed that opportunity.

Napoli also probably regret it, considering they are now selling the same player for half that sum.
