New signing Donati was unveiled to the Press today, after completing a move from Serie B side Bari, where last season he worked with current Palermo boss Bortolo Mutti.
“There is great motivation [in joining the Rosanero],” mused Donati on Friday. “Mainly this is because I am coming from Serie B to a team that in recent years has done very well.
“I would like very much to help Palermo return to a winning course. I will give everything to improve the team’s League ranking.”
The 30-year-old central midfielder, who has had spells with the likes of Atalanta” data-scaytid=”18″>Atalanta, Milan, Parma and Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”19″>Sampdoria, could be set to make his Palermo debut in Week 19’s clash with Genoa.
“Every game is difficult,” he said in anticipation of playing. “Genoa arrive off the back of a comeback victory against Udinese” data-scaytid=”24″>Udinese. They have changed a lot and have some important elements to their side.
“Palermo, however, has players of a high level too, we just lack a bit of confidence in ourselves. We can play a good game and win.
“For my part, there will always come great commitment and maximum concentration, both during games and in training. In my career I have always been committed, even if sometimes I have done well and sometimes I have not done so well.”
Where Donati has played in the Champions League with Milan and Celtic, he has also finished Serie A campaigns in the bottom three with Torino, Messina and Bari, with the last two occasions coming with Mutti as his Coach.
Meanwhile, the Sicilians are reportedly close to releasing Armin Bacinovic to Padova on a six-month loan and in negotiations with Torino to offload winger Edgar Alvarez.
