Giulio Donati calls Lazio a ‘great team’ as he prepares to face them in the Champions League play-off with Bayer Leverkusen.
The Biancocelesti will face the Bundesliga side for a place in the group stages of the competition, and the former Inter man gave his assessment of the tie.
“We’ve landed one of the most difficult draws,” Donati told Tuttomercatoweb after the draw.
“Lazio are a great team. We knew we risked this anyway, and we’ll prepare to the best of our ability to progress in the Champions League.

“Felipe Anderson and [Antonio] Candreva are very dangerous, especially for our defence, but there’s no point talking about individuals.
“Lazio have shown they have a great squad, we have to prepare ourselves as well as possible.
“I’ll be back in Italy as an opponent, so I’ll be relatively happy. It will definitely be a good game.”
The club’s President Michael Shade shared those sentiments, telling UEFA’s website that his side had been given the toughest draw possible.
“We got the toughest opponent we could have had, but we want to qualify. We’re confident, and we think the pressing game our Coach [Roger Schmidt] asks for will help us do well.
“We’re a young team, but we already have so much European experience.”
