Bayer Leverkusen defender Giulio Donati admits he’d “like to play in Serie A” amid interest from Fiorentina.
He grew up in the Inter youth academy and was sold to the Germans in July 2013 for only €3m.
“It has been a wonderful experience, two intense years that allowed me to play in a different reality and the Champions League,” Donati told Tuttomercatoweb.

“It has been a wonderful experience, two intense years that allowed me to play in a different reality and the Champions League,” Donati told Tuttomercatoweb.
“The Bundesliga is of a very high level, but there’s no point denying the fact I feel the draw of home and would like to play in Serie A. The transfer market has only just begun, I need to talk to the club and see what to do.
“Fiorentina? There are rumours and the Viola have a stable project. It would be wonderful to go to Florence, so we’ll see what happens. If the interest is concrete, then there will be some contact, but it’s down to the two clubs.”
Donati is now 25, but hasn’t made it into the senior Italy squad. Does he hope to feature at Euro 2016?
“I will certainly give it my all to do well. The Nazionale is a dream, I know the Coach watches everyone even outside of Serie A, so I can only hope.”
