"Galliani never contacted me, but I did talk to Milan when they were looking to replace Giampaolo," the former Italy CT told Calciomercato.com.

Giampaolo was sacked by Milan in October 2019 and Stefano Pioli came in as a replacement.

"I had a contract with Shenzen until December. Now, I am willing to return to coaching, I want to breathe the football atmosphere, but I'd like to start from the beginning of the season," Donadoni added.

"Milan are doing great things, and they've changed their philosophy. If they manage to include one or two new players every season, they can get back to winning ways. That's what I hope."

What has the future in store for Gigio Donnarumma?

"I don't know what's going on. I know he is a top goalkeeper. A club like Milan must do everything to keep these players. I don't know the club's projects, but I hope he'll stay."
