The Rossoblu were twice pegged back at the Bentegodi and had Andrea Poli sent off, but Mattia Destro pounced on a Fabrizio Cacciatore error to complete his brace.
“These are games you must be able to kill off when you are given the chance, as against a physical side with forwards who are dangerous in the air, you can always concede out of nowhere,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“Clearly, these are three important points, but when you start that strong and take the lead after three minutes with so many chances to add more, you must be more efficient.
“These are our limitations and they were on show again today. If we mature, then we can bring these games home with greater ease and not panic at the end. I hope it can be a lesson to us.”
Donadoni also had harsh words for goalscorers Destro and Simone Verdi.
“I told Destro that the two goals were important, but even more so his performance. Now he has to make a brace seem like normality rather than an unusual occurrence.
“I expect more from Verdi and am not particularly satisfied, because I know he can do more and one day he’ll be simply an extraordinary player. His potential has not been fully expressed.
“I am glad when my players believe in themselves and the team, as approaching the game with that vehemence makes the difference.
“I hate it when people ask if a victory will make us enjoy Christmas more, or if the President will promise an extra end of year bonus. We shouldn’t be going after these things, but searching for it within ourselves. It makes my stomach turn.”
