Donadoni couldn’t prevent Shenzhen from relegation to the second tier in China but the former Italy CT insists that he enjoys the project.

“I’m satisfied and I also love the second pitch, I’m happy here,” Donadoni told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “But I can still see myself in Serie A in the future.

“Maybe at Atalanta. If it happened, it would be a great story. In the meantime, I will follow as a fan.”

The former Milan player was coy about a possible return to the Rossoneri but wants to see them finish the season at a high.

“The hope is that the team can finish the season in the best possible way,” he added before answering if he would be a better option than proposed Ralf Rangnick. “There’s no answer to your question.

“At the moment I can’t help but exclude myself. Then in the future, who knows…”

The Coronavirus outbreak has suspended football all over Europe and was first identified in China, but Donadoni has revealed that the country has shown signs of coming “back to life”.

“Here they are coming back to life, the worst is over,” he said. “China has been looking ahead. Now, we are in quarantine, we measure our temperature twice a day and we obviously don’t train.”
