“I have to be consistent, and say what I’ve said for a long time,” Donadoni began, discussing the issue with L’Avvenire.
“If a dog bites someone, it’s not always the dog’s fault, but rather it’s the fault of the owners.
“In this case, the owners weren’t just Ghirardi and [Pietro] Leonardi, but the Federation and the Lega. who allowed it to get to this situation.
“Today it’s happened to Parma, tomorrow it could be someone else. We [Serie A] are the League which gets the second most in television rights, but we don’t know how to manage that.
“Dignity is a fundamental value for anyone, without that this situation would be more difficult, but ours is running out after a gruelling season.
“To go from the 100 year anniversary, celebrated last year, to bankruptcy is a terrible thing for a city like Parma which has an important history.
“We must start to think in different ways if you don’t want to see what happened to Parma happen again.”
Does the Coach not have to take some responsibility, given the sheer volume of players on the books?
“Who knew that there were 100 players on the books, spread around the world?
“How do I know if the club decides to give contracts to 30 players, or 50? My job is to Coach the team, I don’t do contracts.
“If I did then I’d have a different job title.”
