The Emilian outfit must pay off their sporting debt to be allowed to play in Serie B following their relegation this season, and their Coach is focused on that.

“It was predictable,” Donadoni said of the auction, speaking to Sky in the wake of the match.

“We expected it to go this way, it will take until the last or the second last auction until we see something concrete.

“Now I just hope we can finish the season well, and that Parma will have a future in Serie B.”

The former Italy CT did reflect briefly on tonight’s match, and found it difficult to fault his players’ efforts.

“We started well, and we had the first chance. Then at 2-0 we sat back too much, but it’s hard to think we could ask for any more from the lads.

“They did well on set pieces and caused us problems. We were maybe influenced by our opponents, we should have been more enterprising."
