Donadoni’s future at the Emilia-Romagna club has been the subject of much speculation in recent months and he is sorry his side could not preside over a winning end to their home season.

“I am very sorry we didn’t finish with a win. We wanted to get a result,” the former Italy Coach commented.

“We were good but not great in the first half. We needed to be more concise and ruthless in terms of getting the second goal.

“In the second half we played with confusion. There are incidents that make the difference: we can’t leave Giaccherini with that space and even though Inglese did well for the second goal, we needed to be better.

“When you finish the season with a negative result it’s normal that people are angry.

“But the first to be disappointed are myself and the players because we know the work we put in.”
