Shenzhen FC coach Roberto Donadoni has revealed Chinese football is almost ready to resume after training continuously for over a month.

The former Italy CT has overseen Shenzhen the last year and as China tries to get back to normality, football has resumed with friendly matches.

Donadoni has revealed his men will play another match against Guangzhou Evergrande this weekend, in back-to-back friendlies against Fabio Cannavaro’s men, after their meeting last weekend.

“It was a very nice Saturday, much more than a repatriate,” Donadoni told La Repubblica. “Evergrande will return the visit to us on Saturday.”

In Europe, the German Bundesliga is the only championship to set a date for the resumption of football, returning to play on May 16.

But China are prepared to kick off their season and return to normal, according to Donadoni, despite having to initially play behind closed doors.

“China was the first nation in the world to face the pandemic and managed to get out of it, it’s normal that we can learn from it.

“Here, apart from temperature measurements, masks and tests, everything is returning to normal.

“It will be an unknown factor [to play behind closed doors], even if everyone has experience playing in empty stadiums due to disqualification.

“There are certainly more cons than pros, but whoever manages to make a virtue out of necessity will have an advantage.”
