Shenzhen FC coach Roberto Donadoni has revealed they are training like normal in China, but football is still waiting for a ‘certain programme’.

The 56-year-old arrived in China last summer and spoke about the ‘surreal situation’ in the Far East to Radio Anch’io Sport.

“We are all wearing masks when we are outdoors. Life has returned like before. We’re in total freedom, except for checks on the premises and in the markets. For the rest, you are quite free.

“But we don’t have a certain programme yet. We are training in our sports centre, like all the other teams and in absolute freedom.

“It’s also said that the first few games will be played behind closed doors. But they are all hypotheses, we still don’t even know the dates. It’s certainly a surreal situation.”

He believes the behaviour of the people in Italy could be the key to resume the campaign during the summer and points to the ‘manners’ in China as a good example.

“I’m not experiencing the situation first-hand, so I don’t know. I believe it may be possible, but much depends on us. From our ability to manage things.

“With respect, manners and attention. If we are no superficial, we can start again. But it really depends on the degree of manners. In China, I think they have taught us a lot about this.

“[Group training] could be a solution. But it depends, as I said before, on the degree of attention. It can be a start to return to normal.”

Donadoni expects to see changes in society and predicts a ‘downsizing’ in football too.

“I think so. I think there will be a downsizing. You can’t just think about your wallet. Things can’t run like before. We will have to review many things.”
