The Sicilians had taken an early lead at the Stadio Dall’Ara, but Mattia Destro, Federico Viviani and Blerim Dzemaili turned it around for a 3-1 Bologna success.

“It was important on a psychological level to get this win during what was a difficult moment in every sense,” Donadoni told Rai Sport.

“We gave away the ball too many times and wasted far too many opportunities over the last few rounds. Going behind on home turf so early also made it difficult to come back, but fortunately Destro scored the equaliser and we emerged.

“Mattia is fundamental for us, as he is a top class striker. He just needs to believe in himself and prove his determination to contrast opponents and win back the ball.

“Today he got a goal and an assist, so he’s on the right track.”
