“In central defence, for example, I only have Domenico Maietta and Marios Oikonomou. Simone Verdi is recovering well after his surgery and I think he’ll be ready to play in a couple of weeks.”

Bologna are fresh from their Serie A victory away to Crotone on Saturday, which put them comfortably mid-table.

“We can’t talk about guaranteed safety yet, but in any case I’d like us to look forward and aim at improving on last season. I want to get the best out of this squad and to do that I need everyone to be working in the same direction, including the fans and media.”

Bologna squad for Inter: Da Costa, Mirante, Sarr; Bianconi, Brignani, Krafth, Maietta, Masina, Mbaye, Oikonomou; Donsah, Dzemaili, Frabotta, Nagy, Pulgar, Rizzo, Viviani; Destro, Di Francesco, Floccari, Krejci, Mounier, Okwonkwo
