Does Ronaldo regret leaving Juventus?

Ralf Rangnick’s refusal to ask Cristiano Ronaldo if he’s happy in Manchester suggests some discontent following his departure from Juventus last summer.

The German tactician recently revealed to the press that he ‘didn’t ask if Ronaldo is happy in Manchester’, focusing only on the Portuguese star’s fitness and availability for the Red Devils’ upcoming matches. This suggests that the former Real Madrid forward isn’t particularly content in the North West on England.

It’s fair to say that Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United has not gone as planned. Many fans suggested that the Red Devils were one of the winners of last summer’s transfer window after they brought in Raphaël Varane and Jadon Sancho alongside the Portuguese forward, but disappointing results and painful performances have brought more pain than pleasure to the supporters.

‘Cristiano Ronaldo always on the run, Juventus don’t miss him’

Whilst Ronaldo’s time in Turin wasn’t as simple as planned, with the team losing domestic dominance and failing to put up a respectable Champions League challenge, his teammates still performed well and he was not as heavily criticised as he now is in England.

The Portuguese forward put up significantly better numbers in Turin as well; in his last full season at Juventus, Ronaldo averaged 0.93 goals per 90 minutes, 0.51 goal-creating actions per 90 and 1.93 shots on target per 90. In comparison, this season with Manchester United his stats are 0.44 goals per 90, 0.39 goal-creating actions per 90 and 1.23 shots on target per 90.

Juventus have now seemingly booked their place in next season’s Champions League and could even launch a late title challenge, whilst Manchester United sit 5th in the Premier League table and seem destined to miss out on a top four finish, being one point behind an Arsenal side who have three games in hand.
