Filip Djuricic has revealed Sassuolo want to make up for their last trip to Genoa, when they play Sampdoria at the Marassi this weekend.

After a controversial defeat to Genoa earlier this month, they now play at the Marassi again on Sunday – but this time against Sampdoria.

“We go to Genoa to win, the three points could change a lot for us,” Djuricic said at a press conference. “Let’s go back to the Marassi after the strange match against Genoa, where we played well and had a disallowed goal.

“We always enter the pitch with the same desire and the same style. We have to win two or three games to find continuity.”

The 27-year-old has set himself a target to score a few more goals and get a call-up to the Serbian national team in March, as he revealed he enjoys his role as an attacking midfielder.

“I like to play as a trequartista,” he said at a press conference. “I have been in that position for my whole life.

“Compared to last season, I’m maintaining a higher level. I am very confident. However, I play wherever the coach wants me to play, without any problems.

“I want to score three or four more goals and I want to play for the national team again in March”

He came to the Neroverdi from Sampdoria in July 2018 and has scored five times in 40 games so far.

“I was there for three and a half years, I didn’t have a good relationship with the coach, and I chose to leave,” he said about his time with the Blucerchiati. “However, Sampdoria are a great team and I had the support of the sporting director and the club itself.”
