Filip Djordjevic says that there is only respect and admiration between him and teammate Miroslav Klose at Lazio.

The Serbian striker has netted five goals in seven starts so far and has been featured under Stefano Pioli either as a lone striker or alongside Klose.

But the 27-year-old says that he finds himself well in both tactical situations and that the World Champion can only help him to grow.

“I am really pleased to play with such an important player. He is a great striker, one of the best in the world at the moment,” Djordjevic told media in a Press conference today.

“There’s no jealousy between us because we play in the same position. Miro is helping me a lot.

“Then the Coach is the one who has to make the decisions, it’s up to him to play with one or two strikers.

“All I can say is that we are here to do well and score a lot of goals. I like to play beside him, it’s easy to play along such an important player like Klose.

“He really works hard for the team, he helps the team a lot. Then, he’s really strong inside the penalty box. I really hope to be like him one day.

“Everything is easier when you play with great players. The whole team is helping me and this is very important for me.

“Our squad’s got quality, we all want to stay third in the table. We’ll do our best to make it.”

Lazio fans have started to dream with their team making an impressive start to the season, after amassing 19 points in the first 10 games.

“I know Lazio won a lot with [compatriots] Sinisa Mihajlovic and Dejan Stankovic and in that period they were one of the big teams in Europe and they were regularly featuring in the Champions League.

“That’s a long time ago, but also now there are two Serbians at Lazio and even if the situation has changed a bit, I hope that we can go back to that level.

“That’s why I say that, ahead of any individual target, the most important thing is to finish third. I don’t have a set target in terms of goals.

“If I have to pick one of the five I’ve scored so far though, that would be the first [against Palermo] because everything felt much easier after that.

“My dream? Scoring a goal against Roma in the derby, as it is the most important thing for Lazio fans.

“The fact that fans are already talking about the derby despite there being three months from the fixture, this has really impressed me.”

Djordjevic was asked for comment on UEFA’s penalties handed out after the brawl between Serbia and Albania in Euro 2016 qualifying, which a handful of Lazio players were involved in on both sides, including the striker.

“That game is over now, UEFA has taken a decision. Now we just have to think about the remaining games and win as many as we can.”
