Gianluca Mancini was disappointed for being excluded from the Italy squad for Euro 2020, but Roma will reportedly offer him a contract extension with a release clause.

Mancini was dropped from the Azzurri 26-man squad list for the European Championship, and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Roma defender was left heavily disappointed by the choice of Italy CT Roberto Mancini.

However, José Mourinho believes the defender will play a key role for the Giallorossi next season and Roma are ready to offer him a contract extension until 2025.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A giants could double his €1.6m-a-year wages and include a €30-40m release clause in the new agreement with the former Atalanta man.

Mancini joined Roma from Atalanta on loan with an option to buy in 2019. The Giallorossi made his move permanent one year ago, paying €19m.

The 25-year-old scored five goals in 41 appearances across all competitions with Roma in 2020-21.
