Nicolo Zaniolo has been left disappointed and bitter after his failed attempts to secure a move away from Roma this month, reports highlight.

The 23-year-old Italian forward has struggled to impress under Jose Mourinho this season and requested a move away from the club this month, forcing the Giallorossi to put him on the market.

Milan emerged as serious contenders and Zaniolo was keen on the move, but they failed to agree terms with Roma, who made it clear that they’d only consider definitive terms. Bournemouth came up with a €35m offer for the player, but he wasn’t keen on the idea of joining the Premier League side and rejected the proposal.

As reported by Il Messaggero, sources within the Roma camp detail how Zaniolo has been left disappointed and bitter following his failed departure this month, struggling to deal with the pressure from both fans and the media.

The 23-year-old understands that he made a mistake by asking to be excluded from the clash with Spezia but also believes that the media pressure is coming from the club, who have been trying to force him to accept Bournemouth’s offer.

Zaniolo closed off the comments on his social media pages over the last few days and a banner appeared outside the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night insulting the Italian forward.
