Dionisi: ‘Torino deserved the victory’

Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi admits Torino ‘deserved’ the victory at the Mapei Stadium, because the Neroverdi ‘did not play as a team.’

A late Marko Pjaca goal was decisive, but Toro had hit the woodwork twice and seen two opportunities cleared off the line before that.

“Torino deserved it today due to the number of chances they created, but it’s a pity because we had started quite well,” Dionisi told DAZN.

“We did not play as a team and were trying to go for the vertical pass too quickly. In any case, the second half was better and we didn’t allow as many opportunities. I take the blame and we will learn from this.

“I cannot complain about the general attitude of the side. We made some mistakes, first and foremost I did. It was in the end an even game and Torino had more chances because they went for the second ball, whereas that’s not in our nature.”
