Alessio Dionisi was bitterly disappointed after Sassuolo’s painful 3-0 loss to Bologna today.

Goals from Riccardo Orsolini, Aaron Hickey and Federico Santander secured the three points for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side, ending the Neroverdi’s 2021 in disappointing fashion.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference after the match, Dionisi noted that ‘the regret is that we started well. We approached the match as we should have done, being aggressive and creating the game ourselves.

‘The game was going our way, then I don’t know if it was the goal on a one-off situation because Bologna maybe only entered the area once, maybe we lost confidence.’ He said.

Dionisi highlighted that his Sassuolo side are fairly equal to Bologna, so the 3-0 loss is doubly painful. ‘That’s how I’d explain it because we had one attitude until the goal, then another one and we chased the game, putting on a frenzy, getting unbalanced because we wanted to finish it.

‘I’m also sorry for the way it ended against Bologna, who took advantage of some situations because the difference between us and them today is not even three goals, before today we were on equal points and now they have three more, there is not much difference.

‘Today we had some fault because games must be played 95 minutes and today we didn’t do that. The regret is that we started very well and as the game went on we dissolved.’
