Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi accepts the comparisons with former coach Roberto De Zerbi ‘will always be there’ and confirmed Jeremie Boga will miss the match against Genoa on Sunday.

The Neroverdi prepare for a trip to Liguria to play Davide Ballardini’s men on Sunday and the coach confirmed at a press conference that he will have to cope without the Ivory Coast international.

“Boga will not be in the match,” he said. “He had developed a fever but tested negative [for coronavirus].

“The best player from the last match will not be there, all the others are available.”

Sassuolo are currently 14th in Serie A with seven points and the former Empoli coach believes the team deserved more.

“We didn’t get what we deserved on the pitch,” he said. “We played great teams, but the fixture list cannot be a problem.

“Now we must continue with the performance we had against Inter.”

Dionisi’s men started with a win and a draw but have only one three-pointer in the next five games and the coach asks for time.

“The club have sold many important players, but the high-quality replacements have arrived. It takes time, but from the outside there will never be any.

“There will always be comparisons with De Zerbi.”
