Federico Dimarco confesses being a lifelong Inter fan scoring to beat Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana is an ‘indescribable’ feeling.
He opened the scoring in Riyadh after just over nine minutes, meeting the Nicolò Barella ball rolled across from the right.
Not only is he an Inter supporter, but also the first homegrown Milanese player to score for Inter in a Derby della Madonnina since 1968.
“The emotion is indescribable. Scoring in the derby, in the final of a Supercoppa, it’s just wonderful,” he told Sport Mediaset.
“We had this hunger to win, we proved that on the field tonight with a deserved victory.”
As a supporter, Dimarco also took the loudhailer and started acting as a leader of the ultras to get the post-match chants going.
There was some tension in the interviews when Hakan Calhanoglu confessed he wanted revenge for the ugly and classless scenes of Milan’s Scudetto celebrations in May, when they mocked their former teammate and even joked around with a blow-up doll that had his jersey.
“He deserves this. Those were not good moments for him and we weren’t happy either, now we can relish this victory,” agreed Dimarco.
