Inter wing-back Federico Dimarco is relishing his role in Italy history with their 1,500th goal, also his first for the Nazionale.

The Azzurri needed a victory to reach the Final Four and they achieved it in Budapest with goals from Giacomo Raspadori and Dimarco, as well as some tough saves from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Following on from the 1-0 win over England on Friday, this was another good performance using the 3-5-2 formation and had Dimarco in the role he prefers.

“I am happy with my first Italy goal, but the important thing was to win, we did it and we’re happy that we reached the Final Four,” Dimarco told RAI Sport.

He was not aware during the match, but this was Dimarco’s first Italy goal and the 1,500th scored by the Azzurri in their history.

“I’ve come a long way, I always tried to work hard in my career and I am glad to have scored the 1,500th goal.”
