Digne to Aston Villa a done deal: how will Inter replace Perisic?

With Lucas Digne off to Aston Villa in a €30m deal, Inter must look elsewhere to find a replacement for Ivan Perisic.

The Croat’s future at the club is in doubt as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, Simone Inzaghi expects the Serie A champions to sign a back-up in the January transfer window as Federico Dimarco will be mostly deployed as the left defender in a three-man defence.

Lucas Digne was one of Inter’s targets, but Sky Sports UK report the former Roma defender will join Aston Villa from Everton on a permanent €30m deal.

Inter were only interested in a loan deal with an option to buy and are now monitoring different targets.

According to multiple reports in Italy, Borussia Moenchenglabdach’s full-back Ramy Bensebaini is one of their primary transfer targets.

However, the Bundesliga side are looking for a permanent €20m move, which Inter can’t afford.

Filip Kostic of Eintracht Frankfurt is a long-time target of the Nerazzurri and negotiations with the German club are ongoing. However, a deal appears to be more likely at the end of the season.

There have been mixed reports about PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa as well. La Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned the French defender as a possible target for the Nerazzurri, while Il Corriere dello Sport reported that Inter are not interested in the PSG outcast.
