New Roma signing Lucas Digne says Rudi Garcia was ‘instrumental’ in his decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

The full-back’s transfer was confirmed yesterday, and he joins the Giallorossi in a €2.5m loan deal with the option to buy.

“Rudi Garcia was instrumental because I worked with him for three years in Lille. Since then I’ve improved a lot and I enjoyed training with him,” he told Roma TV.

“I’ve always played with passion and I never asked if it would become my job. I’m always busy doing my best and so far I’ve managed to and I’m very happy about that but, I repeat, it’s first of all a passion and I prefer to live day by day.

“My first meeting with Rudi Garcia? I think I was 16 and a half the first time we met.

“It was a training session with the first team when I was in the Lille youth team, I think it was a friendly match between them and us. I think Gervinho was also there."
