Lega Serie A President Lorenzo Casini warns ‘it will be difficult to start the season on August 13’ if record-breaking temperatures continue, as it simply won’t be safe for the players.

The campaign usually begins in Italy towards the end of August or the start of September precisely because of the climate.

In the 2022-23 term, it is scheduled to kick off on August 13 with many more games compressed into the summer weeks in order to prepare for the November-December break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“The first concern is with the climate, because if the current temperatures persist, it will be very difficult to start the season on August 13,” confessed Lega Serie A President Casini today during a visit to the Udinese headquarters.

“It’s going to be an anomalous season due to the pause for the World Cup.”

While England hit 40 degrees Celsius for the first time ever this week, the situation has been dragging on in Italy, sparking wildfires.

A train derailed in La Spezia today, in the Liguria region, because the tracks had become warped in the heat, while the metro in Milan was running at reduced speeds after reaching critical temperatures.

A statement from the Milan metro confirmed the temperature of the tracks on the Linea 2 route in the open air had reached 60 degrees Celsius.

  1. They defrauded the world by telling us that they’d have a WC in the summer, but then ‘the air conditioning would’ve been too expensive’.

We aren’t even in the WC, so why are we changing our league format to suit a World Cup that is corrupt on every level. They won it through corruption, and they’ve sent over 8,000 people to their graves building their stadiums.

  2. With Italy not in the WC what the big deal! Keep playing the games during WC and those teams that have players in the WC call up the Italian youth!

  3. oh cut the crap. ”heatwave” climate change is the new ”covid19” lie. Nonsense. There have been far hotter years and summers.

  4. Sam.

WRONG! For example. The UK has had unusually hot summers before but it was concentrated to mainland UK. What we are seeing now is prolonged hot temperatures impacting multiple continents at the same time – that we haven’t had before.

If Einstein had introduced his theory of relativity to people like you today, you’d say he’s a fake too.

  5. Rosario.

Wrong, hot temperatures have impacted multiples continents at once, and two, continents were shaped differently causing different reactions in temperature.

  6. blop.

Certainly not in Europe since records began. Are you a meteorologist? We had quite a few of them on Saturday and Sunday on tv and their predictions were bang on. For example – he said severe impact to life, which was humoured and laughed off by one commentator. Fast forward to Tuesday, and with the UK temperature record broken, London fire brigade saw its busiest day since world war 2.

  7. Climate change is mostly a hoax. Yes, are a few changes but Italy has had hotter summers.

Games can be played with extended water breaks and several hours later in the day, if necessary.

Additionally, why should Seria A concern itself with scheduling based on the corrupt bid awarded to Qatar? Answer: Seria A should NoT concern itself with such scheduling around this corruptly awarded WC.

Perhaps the Seria A president should concern himself with Seria A incentivizing clubs to develop, sign, and play Italian talent!

That would do more to help the Nazionale cause than these superficial invoncenirnces!

  8. You can have your opinion on climate change. Or flat earth. Or what ever you want. But it is a shame and disgrace that first of all F I F A, and the U E F A, have allowed these corrupt Qatar games to go on. Beside their oppression of women’s rights and education. Beside their use of slave labor, and all the deaths involved in building the infrastructure. Let us see how many fans will be swept up in their seventh century laws while paying thousands to attend these games. Serie A should have taken a stronger stand, and allowed their season to continue as normal. But who believed the F I G C would take stand.

‘You can have your opinion on climate change. Or flat earth. Or what ever you want’ 😂😂😂😂 BRILLIANT.

  10. Wow, the comment fields on football websites are really something. Climate change is a hoax? Like… It isn’t changing? People aren’t dying all over Europe? Brilliant comments. Keep em coming.

  11. @Rosario…

Yes, climate chsnge is mostly a hoax.

Look at the fact that Italy, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands are now reverting Back to the use of fossil fuels snd coal with the need to provide RELIABLE energy supplies in the wake of discovering the UNRELIABILITY of ” green” energy sources-which, by the way, require the use of good old fossil fuels.

So, laugh all you want-similar to how EU and NATO representatives responded to Pres. Trump’s warning that their over-reliance on Russian energy imports put their security in a precarious situation. Well, doesn’t seem lije the EU and NATO countrues are laughing to well…now does it?

  12. @Villarusdo and Vinny…

Make fun all you want but facts are facts. “Green” energy overwhelmingly relies on the use of fossil fuels for production of “green” energy goods.

Yes, climate is changing…it always changes. It’s called natural weather patterns within the atmosphere. Italy has had much hotter summers than this year.

The fact remains that EU countries are now required to go bsck to fossil fuel production to prepare for stable energy sources innpreparing for the upcoming winter. Why? Because their “green” energy agenda and souces have proven unreliable especially in the wake of the illegal Rusdisn invasion of Ukraine.

Why do facts disturb the mindset of the progressive virtue signallers and glibslists of the world? Because factual truth is antithetical to the need by globslists to superimpose a dystopian lifestyle among the population.

Go ask Dutch farmers how they are feeling about the “green” energy agenda. It’s easy to virtue signsl from the comfort of your keyboards and much harder to actually produce necessary goods like Dutch farmers must do to provide a living for themselves, as well.

Reality is not a friend to globslists.

  13. I see good points here but the key question is which team will benefit more from climate change causing matches to be cancelled. Covid definitely didn’t help Inter so I’m hoping climate change will be different. Lol On the serious note tho I don’t believe it’ll cause any of that and if it does then maybe it’s already too late
