Roberto Mancini has divided Italy fans saying that the Azzurri ‘deserved to be at the World Cup’. Do you agree with the CT?
The Azzurri have failed to qualify for Qatar 2022 and will watch the World Cup from afar for the second time in a row.
Italy finished runners-up to Switzerland in the qualifying group and lost to North Macedonia in the World Cup playoffs in March, less than nine months after becoming European champions.
Results on the pitch clearly proved the Azzurri did not deserve a spot in Qatar, but many are focusing on how the defending European champions missed their chance to play at the World Cup.
Jorginho fluffed two penalty kicks in two games against Switzerland, while North Macedonia scored a fluke goal with their only shot on target in the stoppages at the Stadio Barbera in Palermo.
It’s also been highlighted how countries from other continents face an easier path to qualify for the World Cup, while only the group stage winners in the Old Continent get direct access to the competition with the runners-up who must go through the playoffs to earn their spot.

Yes because there are a lot of individually great players in team, the talent in the team is unbelievable and among the best in the world. No because they failed to qualify for the tournament, failing multiple times at many steps of the way against smaller sides.

No they don’t deserve to be there. It’s hard to qualify from the European groups from September to March they won one game. That’s not enough to qualify for any tournament let alone the World Cup. Enough about the failed World Cup qualification, there’s a lot of work to be done now.

In fact this is a disgrace to think that Italy deserve the WC. Why? Italy failed, failed miserably and not able to beat North Macedonia and that is why they failed. END OF DISCUSSION
i agree with Milan fan, yes and no, yes because being champions of europe and playing such good football up to the euro final should have seen us qualify, No because even though we won the euros Mancini needed to shake things up a bit, perhaps players and system, but the real deep rooted issue is the clubs and the lack of youth development that i hope italy learn from, the only thing italy can do now is build for the future as the talent is there and hopefully the clubs become more in sync with la nazionale and stop buying stranieri who are mainly garbage

No they didn’t deserve to be there, however, think about this, had they beaten North Macedonia, they would have met Portugal away from home. So, either Portugal or Italy don’t go to World Cup, which is ridiculous two of the best teams in Europe and last two winners of European Championship, and one wouldn’t be there. We want best teams at World Cup, it’s the qualifying process that’s wrong in Europe.
