Diakite is a free agent, as his contracts were either terminated early or not renewed at Lazio, Sunderland and then Deportivo La Coruna.

As the Frenchman is out of contract, he could technically still sign for a Serie A club after the transfer deadline and Inter are thought to be interested.

That’s because the Nerazzurri were in advanced negotiations with Porto for Rolando, but talks collapsed when the Portuguese side refused to release him on loan.

Other moves that didn’t go through were Pedro Mendes from Parma to Cagliari, while Ederson rejected Sampdoria, therefore scuppering Lazio’s bid for Gonzalo Bergessio.
