Milan have an unexpected ally in the fight for AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana, as Moussa Diaby publicly urged him to join the Rossoneri.

Diaby completed the transfer from Aston Villa to Al-Ittihad for a massive €60m last month, but he would appear to be cheering on the Serie A side for this deal.

On the latest Fofana Instagram post, there appeared a message written in Italian by the official Moussa Diaby account.

“Come to Milan my champion” it read, followed by laughing, heart and flame emojis.

The Monaco man replied, also in Italian, with: “If you are the one asking, my brother” and four laughing emojis.

Milan to raise Fofana offer

Meanwhile, Calciomercato.com also note that Fofana is returning to training with Monaco today after an extended summer vacation.

There have already been two offers rejected, the highest reaching €17m, but Milan are expected to raise it further to reach €20m including add-ons.

They could also include a 10 per cent cut of the future sell-on fee to help get the deal over the line.

Monaco can only push so much, considering his contract is due to expire in June 2025, but there is also interest from West Ham United, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Napoli.
