Antonio Di Natale reportedly turned down €10m wages at Guangzhou Evergrande to stay with Udinese.

The veteran striker is going into his 11th consecutive Serie A season at the Stadio Friuli and admitted it’s likely to be his last, as he had considered retirement last term.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Di Natale was offered €10m plus performance-related bonuses to join Marcello Lippi’s Guangzhou Evergrande for two years.

The proposal arrived in March and would’ve been a huge financial boon, as he currently earns only €1.2m per season at Udinese.

However, he preferred to stay in Udine and gave the same response to a club from Dubai too.

The Neapolitan striker has always said his family is happy in Udine and that he will continue to live there even after he has retired.

Guangzhou Evergrande still got their Italian centre-forward, as they signed Alberto Gilardino from Genoa this month.
