Angel Di Maria discussed the idea of signing for Juventus this summer following the increasingly confident media reports.

The 34-year-old Argentinian forward played his last match for Paris Saint-Germain in yesterday’s 5-0 win over Metz, scoring a goal and providing an assist in his last outing for the French giants, ending a seven-year association. Reports seem certain that the Copa America winner will be on his way to Turin in the coming weeks, but things may not be as simple as they seem.

Speaking to ESPN, Di Maria first spoke about the possibility of signing for Juventus before returning to Rosario.

“I’m calm, there is time, I have to think. It’s not just my decision. I’ve always thought about myself and my family. I will make the best choice for everyone, my 2 daughters, my wife and myself.”

He then confirmed why he is leaving PSG after seven years in the French capital.

“The club’s decision. Everyone knew I wanted to stay one more year. I wanted to continue to win the Champions League, we came close, that’s the only thing I miss.

“But I know that the boys will continue on the same path, they will try to win. I want the best for this team, I have to respect the club’s decision.”

In his seven years in Paris, Di Maria made 295 appearances across all competitions, scoring 93 goals and providing 119 assists. He won five Ligue 1 titles, four Coupe de France and four Coupe de la Ligue.
