Angel Di Maria may not have had the perfect start to life with Juventus but the Argentinian winger is still happy plying his trade in Turin.
The 34-year-old joined the Bianconeri in the summer on a free transfer after ending a seven-year spell with Paris Saint-Germain, adding an experienced and productive forward to the Bianconeri’s front line. Di Maria has scored a goal and provided an assist in his first four games, but a slight muscle injury and a red card in the loss to Monza have dampened his start a little.
Speaking to 433, Di Maria first discussed a photo of him in a swimming pool with Alex Sandro, Paulo Dybala, Danilo, Paul Pogba and Arthur.
“This shot dates back to my fourth or fifth day at Juventus. Well, it seemed like I had been at Juventus for four or five years.
“This photo shows the affection and what Juventus really is, a big family. For me, having arrived here is more than important. I feel like I’m at home. From day one.”
He touched on what the concept of family means to him.
“It means being all for one, always, being ready at every opportunity for my wife and daughters. I fight, have fought and will always fight for them, they are my strength, my engine.”
The 34-year-old looked back at the early stages of his life and what his tattoos mean.
“My childhood is Rosario Central, there I started playing ‘futbol’, there I began to love football, one of the fundamental things in my existence. I love tattoos, they all have value and meaning. I have the names of my wife and daughters, the initials of every member of my family.
“On my right leg are the house where I grew up, the first ball with which I debuted in the Primera Division, the La Bandera Monument in Rosario. Everything I have on my body is special.”
Finally, Di Maria reflected on Argentina’s Copa America win last year.
“It’s something I fought for for 13 years, it shows sacrifice, perseverance and the desire to achieve the goal.”
