Angel Di Maria has been sent off in the first half of Juventus’ away match against Monza after lashing out at defender Armando Izzo.

The 34-year-old Argentinian forward has only just returned to the fold after suffering from a tear in his adductor muscle but he’s already been sidelined again, this time due to suspension. Di Maria was playing through the pain in today’s match, gritting his teeth to try and help Juventus grind out a positive result, but things have not gone to plan.

Di Maria was shown a red card in the 40th minute of the away match against Monza today after striking Izzo in the chest with his elbow, forcing referee Fabio Maresca to send him off. He is likely to get more than just a one-match suspension due to violent conduct.

This was the Argentinian forward’s first red card since Nice’s 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain back in April 2017, when he saw red in the dying minutes of the match.

  1. Monza were the better side before the red card. Slow ball must be sacked and the management too.
Hope monza’s win can make this happen.

  2. Not his fault. He knows he is playing in the smallest club he has ever been part of. It was a sign of frustration and he must regret turning down Barca.
