Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo believes Victor Osimhen’s reaction at being substituted was ‘unnecessary’ and says he will discuss the matter with the team.

Osimhen was subbed off in a 0-0 draw against Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday and openly criticised Rudi Garcia while on his way to the bench.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the game, Di Lorenzo warned his teammate: “Knowing him, I know he’s aware he was wrong,” said the Partenopei captain.

“This attitude is unnecessary and we’ll speak between us calmly to solve this thing. He’s the first one to be disappointed, like all of us, for not winning, but we’ll start again.”

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had had a similar reaction a week earlier in Napoli’s 2-2 draw against Genoa, does this mean Garcia is losing the dressing room already?

“We don’t think about what other people say. We are all united,” argued Di Lorenzo.

“Of course, we know we are not doing well in the league. We are all focused on what we need to improve together, the team and the coach. I am sure we’ll put in a great performance in the next game.”

The defending Serie A champions sit seventh in the Serie A table with eight points in five games. They’ll host Udinese at the Stadio Maradona in the next league game on Wednesday.
