Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio has been named the best Serie A goalkeeper for 2023-24.

Lega Serie A confirms on X, formerly Twitter, that Italy international Di Gregorio has been named the best goalkeeper in the league this season.

The 26-year-old had been shortlisted for the award alongside Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi and Juventus’ Wojciech Szczęsny.

Another Italian keeper, Lazio’s Ivan Provedel, emerged victorious in 2022-23 after keeping 21 clean sheets throughout the campaign.

Di Gregorio has kept 14 clean sheets this season in Serie A, conceding 35 goals in 33 games.

Di Gregorio has been left out of Italy’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024, with Luciano Spalletti opting for Gigio Donnarumma, Guglielmo Vicario, Alex Meret and Provedel instead.

Di Gregorio’s contract with Monza expires in June 2027, but the Italian shot-stopper has emerged as a primary transfer target for Juventus. The Old Lady has already begun preliminary talks with Monza and the player’s agent and sees Di Gregorio as the ideal heir to Szczesny.
