Eusebio Di Francesco gave his explanation of the Sassuolo miracle, as they crushed Sampdoria to go sixth.

The 3-1 thrashing of Sampdoria at Marassi saw the Neroverdi climb into sixth place, just seven points off leaders Inter.

“I think the major turning point in our project was when I returned after that dismissal (in March 2014, ndr) and said I wanted to play football my way. We relied on the 4-3-3 and the clarity of focus helped everyone,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Vincenzo Montella has lost all three games since taking over at Sampdoria and Di Francesco feels for his former Roma teammate.

“I am disappointed for him and I think there’s a lot of work to be done. I feel bad, but I trust he’ll turn things around.”
