The Neroverdi drew 1-1 with Red Star in Belgrade tonight, a result which sees them advance to the Group Stage in their first ever participation in European competition.

“We’ve achieved our goal and I’m happy,” Di Francesco told Sky after the match.

“I’m disappointed about the result this evening though, for what the lads showed our there they deserved a bit more. We need to improve and take our chances.

“We deserved this competition on the pitch, we played really well in the preliminaries and proved that we can do well. Even in Europe, we impose our game.

“The draw? I don’t care who we get!

“My attention has already turned to Pescara, it’ll be a tricky game and we have to recover.”

New signing Alessandro Matri was given his debut tonight, but missed a number of presentable chances.

“He moved a lot and he held it up well, he ran well and he got some minutes in his legs. He had a lot of chances, we’re hoping he’s saving a goal for the next ones!”
